Let me tell you about MY WHITE PRIVILEDGE. Years ago I was a Fast Food Restaurant manager for an unnamed company that makes whopping big hamburgers. I wanted to become a franchisee. I was told that I had to have my own land, build my own restaurant and come up with the $750,000 franchise fee. HOWEVER, if I was black instead of white, the franchise fee would be zero and the company would build my restaurant for me and let me pay it off from store profits. Gee, wasn't I lucky to have WHITE PRIVILEDGE?

I think the white privilege is all about what was accumulated from slavery. Through time black folks where innovative and was never compensated. Oklahoma (Black wall st) terrorized over jealousy. Hearing stories from my dad and his family living in the south... these history books have not even touched what they been through. What I’m saying had things been exercised (40 acres and a mule) and anything thing that was stolen .... I don’t think we would be having this conversation... it still nonsense going on with careers and mortgages... The term "white privilege" is a self-serving, wishful misnomer that people of color should never use. It doesn't exist! What is conveniently being labeled as "white privilege" is, in reality, nothing more or less than white tribalism, pure and simple. In order for "privilege" to exist and then be accorded to a particular person or group of people, every other person or group of people within that environment must assume or accept as fact that that other person or group possesses privileges that they themselves do not have. As a rule, white Americans, for example, do indeed (as they always have) consistently show and act upon favoritism towards other members of their white tribe. There is no denying that, but let's call it what it is-tribalism. In today's world, where is it written that white Americans are entitled to privileges that people of color are not entitled to? It is quite likely that the white supremacists in the U.S. would like to create or recreate laws that would make them a privileged group, but I don't see that as something that is likely to happen.

So because people were killed for being rich in the 1930s theres no such thing as white privilege. Sometimes this guy waffles.

Thank you! These are many of the thoughts I have had as well. I felt that saying I had white privilege is condescending. I am not better or worse than anyone else because I am white. We are just people and need to get to know one another on an individual level. We can't be forced to treat others in the "right" way. I guess if people think I am racist- that is on them. Those that know me personally know I am not. The fear and division that all this creates does not solve any problems. This makes people afraid of talking to people of other races all together. That's not how I'm going to live my life. I value all cultures and races and know we as a whole enrich this world. I know I'm not alone in that even though all today's propaganda tries to say I am.

This is a farce. Nothing in the world is absolute. White privilege does exist. Does every single white person in the world have a golden ticket? No. But overall white people have an advantage. At my job I have seen maybe 6 black people. The rest are white. I work at a great job that does not require a college degree. So why am I one of the few black people there? Are black people not applying?

This argument is flawed because if you say I don't believe food stamps exist because it is repulsive and also one should not live their life living under food stamps but they should get their own food. Therefore it it's not exist. Just because you can draw a direction in which you wish people should go doesn't mean a thing doesn't exist. Teach your more or lesson in a different scenario. When the question is does it exist you don't draw a more lesson of what people should and shouldn't do and then all of a sudden claim it doesn't exist just because people are taking the subject at hand which way they want. I never believed in ‘white privilege’ until I saw hundreds of white people storm a government building with minimal resistance. If they had been black I wonder what the response would have been? Imagine the scenario. Just imagine it. Hundreds of angry black men and women smashing their way into the senate building, killing a police officer with a flag pole, chanting ‘hang the Vice President’ and taking zip ties into the building to take hostages. For the record I agree with everything in this video. But for me there is a specific type of white privilege that cannot be denied and that is perfectly illustrated by the senate assault. Do I feel guilty about it because I’m white? No. Why did I feel the need to comment here? Because I feel strongly that there is nuance to this debate. We shouldn’t embrace and endorse the notion of generic white privilege but we also can’t deny that sometimes, in specific cases, skin colour has a huge effect on how you are treated in America.
