Police officers have become the targets of violent activists who are seeking to upend America as we know it. Heather Mac Donald, senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute and author of The War on Cops, is in the studio this week to break down the myths behind “systemic racism” and “police brutality.”

Definitely disagree heavily on the part around 15:45. That is obviously not suppose to happen. Candace, you being with access to the White House well know there are levels of de-escalation. Reaching for a gun or a taser is means to disable an individual not kill (thus where the lack of training come into play). First of all, shame on the 2 police officers not being trained enough to disable a drunk man and allowed him to take their taser. Embarrassing. Being in the Marine Corps, seeing de-escalation tactics 1st hand, I can truly say that we treat potential threats against foreign soil a lot better then we do citizens in country. If a police officer is not able to disable a uncooperative citizen without reaching for your weapon without using lethal force then one needs better training or ones emotions are running wild and turn to whats easy, the gun. This whole, cops are doing it for their safety is wuss talk. There is a saying in the USMC (You Sign the Motherf**kn Contract). If you cannot handle being a cop and the pressures that come with it and you are truly scared to be in dangerous situations and want to get home to your family then perhaps one should be a kindergarten teacher (not speaking down against kindergarten teachers but I can imagine that's safer then being a police). Defunding the police is a bad for marketing and brings up emotion. Great job media. What we need are better trained cops, better screened cops, or we need less budgets going to police (yes I said that, God forbid) and allocate that money to private sectors that are trained in the de-escalation process and/or mental facilities. Or how about this, actually make a percentage of our prisons reform centers to help fix criminals and not make them more violent, releasing them to society. Everything else truth and great. I myself was definitely bullied in school by my black peers for speaking "properly" and was called Oreo, or whitewashed because my parents did not want me speaking in slang. Shame we as a culture do this to each other.

Agreed for the most part but the entertainment industry is still HIGHLY discriminatory towards women. If you look at the numbers, there aren’t nearly as many roles for women as there are for men, men still have much longer careers, aren’t as sexualized, etc.

I grew up severely anxious, was bullied a lot, and grew up never saying no and trying to please everyone. I’m so glad I grew out of that in my 20’s and learned to stand up for what is right, true, and moral. 15 year old me growing up now would never be able to cope with constantly being scared of upsetting the wrong group. Obviously I don’t have numbers or proof on this, but I have a feeling that we are going to see a surge in youth suicide in the next few years, purely because they’re too scared of the world to come. War is Peace Freedom is Slavery Ignorance is Strength

I posted the quote because it’s exactly what’s happening now, and free speech is at stake. Never thought we’d see it in our lifetime. It’s truly terrifying. Read 1984 but also Brave New World. BNW wasn’t as ‘scary’ but it was also quite prophetic of the time we are in now.

Ie people now are acting in a war mongering way now to bring “peace” or equality. To make themselves free, they’re in turn actually being slaves to an ideology and stomping out anyone who disagrees, and by being completely ignorant of the truth they think they are strong.

It’s from the book 1984. It’s the slogan of the totalitarian government in the government who kill anyone who tries to disagree with them. My point being that the book feels like it was a prophesy and we are living it out now. Pretty surprised that someone wouldn’t know what I was referring to.

By all means, watch to learn about your teacher's biases, but then go hear from the other side, as well. Philosophy Tube, Contrapoints and Big Joel are good places to start. This was one of the most interesting and infuriating talks I have fully listened to recently. My biggest thought on this as an Asian trying to better understand this American society I am living in and my brain immediately starts ringing all sorts of bells when Heather Mac Donald talks about her “thought experiment”. This is what she says, “If Blacks acted like Asians for 10 years in all things related to success. So you had parents that were obsessive about their children’s academic work, attending school, ....etc... If after 10 years of that sort of Asian behavior, we still saw racial disparities, at that point, I’m gonna start listening to you talking about systemic racism.” Here are my thoughts: So is she listening yet? Because racial disparities are shown against Asians all the time and have been for a while now with Covid-19 as an excuse for discrimination, but I don’t see her at the forefront of this or as she puts it “listening”. Or maybe she thinks racial disparities suffered by Asians are not worth her time and energy, who knows? Heather Mac Donald’s “thought experiment” only proves that systemic racism already exists in the American society. Why? Because like I already mentioned, racial disparities are already pretty apparent for Asian Americans today, right now. So basically her “thought experiment” doesn’t prove her point, but actually disproves it, because the original experiment, the one with Asians in it didn’t work in the first place. We still face racism daily. So why does she think this thought experiment would work with the black community if it failed miserably for Asians? On a second note, since she is so fond of standards and meeting standards, here’s something she probably already knows and chooses to ignore: there are higher standards used against Asians to be admitted into IVY league universities, which with and of itself should be evidence enough to show the existence of racial disparity when it comes to education. If this kind of blatant racial disparity exists for Asian Americans who according to Heather value education so obsessively and have been doing for more than 10+ years, I can only imagine how much worse it is for the black community. The biggest, most blatant flaw I saw in their conversation is blaming the black community itself for the social racism/ disparities they are feeling and experiencing. They call it “black ghetto culture”. I am not denying that this type of social phenomenon doesn’t exist, it exists, but what’s wrong is that they frame their whole conversation around the foundation that “black ghetto culture” is the biggest contributing factor to racial disparities happening in the society BUT they are in fact choosing to ignore the bigger picture. I would call it the greater monster that has been feeding these racial disparities for years: the HOW and WHY behind the “black ghetto culture”. They deliberately choose to ignore the factors that create this “black ghetto culture”, which is the why and how. When you see a certain problem, the first thing you do is look for the cause. You need to know the cause in order to fully understand and resolve the problem. These two women only see the problem and are pointing fingers at the black community for “behaving like toddlers” and dismissing the cause behind it. A good mother doesn’t just look at her misbehaving toddler and say, oh you are a toddler and you don’t know any better so that is why you are misbehaving. NO! Even toddlers have a reason for their behavior! Are they hungry? Are they thirsty? Are they scared? Are they uncomfortable? Are they angry because they skipped their nap? Were they ignored previously and the parents did not notice? Are they too hot/cold? There is no such thing as having a “toddler moment” for no reason. Maybe these two ladies need a lesson or two on childhood development. Maybe they need to come down from their self adorned pedestals and be willing to look at the root/cause of the problem instead of just pointing fingers. What is making this community angry? Why are they so angry? How has this become a national focus? BLM is only scratching the surface of a problem that has been a part of the American society for years. Ignoring this problem and labeling it as just a political agenda won’t solve the issue. You need to dig deeper. There are so many cultures represented in the United States. If you can’t even see and acknowledge the racial disparities against one single race, there is no way you would acknowledge the racial disparities among other races. By choosing to ignore the systemic racism of one race, you are also choosing to ignore the racism prevalent across all other races.

When the next Little Mermaid was announced to be played by someone black, the East Asians were sad. Is this racism? Did we shout and got angry that it wasn't played by Asians??? No, we were sad that Ariel didn't look like someone we grew up looking at. Disney should create more princesses of color instead of changing the existing ones.

Every election season, you can expect Democrats to exploit anecdotes in order to incite black against white in order to maintain their stranglehold on black voters. This year it was especially extreme, but it happens every time. But with one difference, now Democrats want to defund and decrease police, and law-abiding black Americans will end up suffering most for it.

Teacher Heather Mac Donald I watched a good video of your insight. I saw it with deep sympathy. Those who give up always make excuses that they are the hardest. They try to live an easy life without effort. The only thing that matters without responsibility and duty is your own gain Black people discriminate against other people equally, saying they are victims of discrimination. I think that discrimination is everywhere and I have to think about what to do to not be discriminated against. Smaller than that, they have to assimilate into their society, comply with the law, move with their neighbors, and have a duty to the country. I’m korean. My country, Korea, is a country without resources. no pain no gain. I know the meaning of the sentence. To succeed in Korea, you must win the infinite competition of hell difficulty. Many Koreans try hard for yesterday or the better today. I am the same, I go for my dream but I do not give up in the fight with myself. Of course there are bad people. My country, Korea, seems stark, but there is hope, consideration and morality in it. I would say that if all the people do their jobs hard and fulfill their obligations for the country, the country will become stronger. Never give up. That's it. For my Dream

The Liberal Media has/is promoted racism. I'm 65 and grew up in and around the black community in three different large cities and at no time did I ever see the level of negative racial issues like I have seen in the last 10 years. The Liberal dreamers and Socialist within the MSM is trying to divide us on purpose. And they're succeeding! The goal is to create chaos & destroy America by any means possible and then rebuild it in a Chinese type commie/socialistic country. Complete with wide open borders and forced transfer of wealth. Most common people can't wrap their heads around the facts. Woke = Racial bias, hate, envy, and greed.. A lot of well meaning people have screwed up this country. "The road to hell is paved with good intentions." It's going to take decades to restore this country to proper balance.

Many times over recent years I have wondered if this whole narrative is being manipulated by genuine racists who want to keep black people down while parading around as virtue signallers. This narrative is not helping black people and yet those who can see this and oppose it, scream out against it, are called racist. I think these manipulators are good at chess and always a couple of moves ahead, they realised this was going to keep black people oppressed due to victim mentality removing any sense of aspiration, it is one way to ensure they keep voting for you too - on both sides of the pond.

Amen about the thought experiment (37:50). I have always been taught that the best revenge is success and the Asian American community totally got this early on. Now if an Asian American is being denied an opportunity, it HAS to be actually racism. It can not be blamed on standards, testing, qualifications, etc. because they are at the top of all of that. The only logical conclusion left is they are being denied because of race. Hell, they are being now turned away because there are too many who are too qualified. The guest was absolutely correct. Why doesn't the black community do the same??? Be extortionary at academics, "white" values, etc. Then, if the same "racism" and "disparity" is still prevalent, the ONLY logical conclusion is it is being done based on race. The black community should be furious and protesting non stop about the condition and quality of their school systems and the educations received.

Heather is condescending and her voice is so hard to listen to. Please don't tell black people what their issues are.

Amazing, these two women are spot on and really speaking truth. Everyone has some form of “privilege” in life and only lazy/weak minded people play the victim card. My dream as a child was to be in the NBA... Needless to say, as a short Jewish kid, that didn’t materialise... Slavery has happened throughout history (and still happens today)...doesn’t matter what ethnicity or demographic you are. Should we destroy the Pyramids of Egypt because the Egyptians (dark skin) enslaved the Jews (light skin) for hundreds of years? Time to stop the blame game and take the necessary steps to better yourself. Get good at something, work hard, follow the rules and it will pay off.

Candace....please sit down with Mr.Trump prior to his next debate. He’s done so much to make America great. But....he needs help to express himself in a more cogent manner for the public.
