I highly recommend you do an episode on Upton Sinclair’s book: Boston. The case of Sacco and Vanzetti truly reflect on BLM and similar groups just 100 years later. As you well know, and as was told “Those who don't know history are destined to repeat it.”

As an Italian, I think the Ciardi and the Mandelbaum translation are the best ones. Of course reading it in English takes part of the pleasure away, so I think the best idea is to fetch a version of the Divine Comedy with notes.

The whole book is a description of an Astral journey Dante made with his spiritual mentor. The vivid descriptions, the subtle influences in his Astral body, and how the bosses in hell are mad at him (because he is still incarnated and can tell what he saw to the world - which he did -) is quintessencial in spirituality technical literature. The Divine Comedy is one of the world's first detailed Astral journey.

Get the JOHN CIARDI translation. It was a pleasure to read. I LOVED it, and I'm NOT a poetry fan. I'll bet there's less than a dozen poems in all of history that I actually like. That old translation by LONGFELLOW was the most difficult, and frustrating thing I ever attempted. It's usually the translation you find for sale, unfortunately. Although I'm sure no one reading this cares, I think I'll try and list all the poems I like, in no particular order: Rime of The Ancient Mariner (S. T. Coleridge) The Raven (Poe) Ozymandias (Shelley) Midnight Ride of Paul Revere (Longfellow) Hair (comic poem by George Carlin) Devine Comedy (Dante) Annabelle Lee (Poe again) Hmmm,... that's all I can think of. Although I guess I COULD add some old Mother Goose stuff I liked as a kid. 🤔😆

Democrats claim they are bullied meanwhile they bully conservatives. Democrats say that Republicans play the victim and that's coming from the people who berate and assault anyone with a red hat on Liberals say that conservatives are rude to people for their religion, as they hate on ACB for being a catholic. Democrats claim that republicans hate the US, says the people who burn the american flag. Democrats say that Republicans are fascists, and that's coming from the people who will not let them put a trump sign out and won't let them wear trump apparel

@God hates liberals Dude... I'm saying literally the opposite. You haven't given me anything to rebut. You made a claim, and you haven't provided any evidence to support it. You just keep on insisting that you've provided evidence when you clearly haven't. I honestly can't tell if you're just trying to waste my time or what, but if you're not interested in, or capable of, engaging in this discussion then your time is better spent elsewhere.
MC Goku

@God hates liberals You still haven't given any evidence, though. You've given an incorrect definition of a word, told me to read history books, listed some countries, and called me an idiot. None of those things support any of your claims.

Admitting you're a socialist opens the discussion. In my readings I don't discern much difference between Leftism & socialism. According to the authors I've read, mostly European to bypass the BS our school systems feed us, democracy (which is primarily designed to determine who is elected) leads to chaos to socialism & finally to totalitarian tyranny. The logic being the vulgar, the largest block of voters, vote for their own concerns which usually doesn't consider the common good or in today's case the right to free association.

Yes, absolutely, I was gonna post this. For someone to suggest reading the second in third books as an assignment for a book club is insane. Introduce people to the first book, then let them read the other two (or try to read lol) if interested. The person that assigned this is the type of person that takes a huge dump in the bathroom and then tries to convince other people it smells good.

I've been trying to read this book since I was a teenager... I always start it, make it through a few "cantos" and quit for whatever reason.. I'm only 34, but finishing The Divine Comedy is on my bucket list. I used to get lost in the metaphor, but maybe I could understand it better now that I'm older. My wife got me another copy for my birthday (since my _ex_ wife had taken all of my books and movies when she left). I think this edition uses a little more of plain English wording.

Italian doesn't have dialects, Italian is a dialect (mostly florentine, in origin, tough this is not so meaningful the more the characterization goes in depth), of a language (Tuscan vulgar), of the Italo-Dalmatian language family, part of the occidental romance family, in the neolatin family

The original manuscript is in the Tuscan dialect, which tends to resemble the Neapolitan dialect in its script. Right now I’m good with the de facto Italian dialect in speech and script but while I can probably read some Neapolitan and Tuscan scripts I’d be hard pressed to have a conversation in those dialects.
