Fireside Chat Ep. 151 - Society Can't Fix Your Problems

Character development was a primary focus in education until the 1960s. Now, children are taught to blame America or "society" for their problems. The great tragedy of this, of course, is that if you think society is to blame, why would you take any action to help yourself?

Well I agree with you with regards to it not seeming necessary to specify a global any kind of family that family alone should be a standalone idea I do think that I may possess some understanding of why it may appear to be more acceptable in that term and what the intent of that statement actually is. this idea that America is systemically racism is not accurate and in the previous episode where you explain how the greatest obstacle and enemy we face is ourselves, I firmly believe that this is a manner in which black Americans can begin to address the elephant in the room. It seems to me that one of the reasons black Americans on average tend to be more invested in criminal activities and per capita less successful, is due to the undervaluing of family not only as an ideal but as a concept with which everyone of that background has experience. The idea of generating positive emotion towards family in and of itself, but family that they identify with even just on an aesthetic basis is an attempt to redirect focus back to the importance and necessity of nuclear family. It is my deduction that generations from the 1980s and further back are more accustomed to growing up in a singular racial environment and the idea that the support of that environment or community could be termed family could potentially change the perception of its importance in life as well as the early adolescents and all its difficulties. Terming it to be specifically black family, could emphasize the importance of changing that narrative and it being the responsibility of black Americans to do so without any other racial disparity or distraction that quickly comes to mind these days when melanin somehow derives a feeling of discontent and oppression. much like Asian Americans after world war II had to actively fight certain stigmas that led to inequality and prejudice, this one could potentially benefit the black community by subconsciously empowering themselves in a very foundationally important way. But that's just my assessment and I'm sure there could be just enough meat there for all of the Prager family to build off of if anyone was so inclined.

The ideology of leftists is to rebel against consequences for their poor decisions in life because it brings hardship and pain. They think they are entitled to a decadent, slothful life without hardship and pain. They want something for nothing. They have envy and jealousy in their hearts, but the Marxist ideology makes them feel so self righteous, that they are blind to this covetousness in their hearts. The laziest and most covetousness Marxist of all was Marx. He only sold a few articles in his whole lifetime, ran a few obscure, revolutionary publications and was an unappreciative freeloader the rest. His friends gave him four times a white collar salary of the time, but he spent it all and complained they didn't give him enough. His mother advanced him enough of his inheritance to live on for 10 years and he spent it in one. Jordan Peterson Neo Marxism

BLM has deleted their page, "What we believe" but here is a cached copy from google: What We Believe Four years ago, what is now known as the Black Lives Matter Global Network began to organize. It started out as a chapter-based, member-led organization whose mission was to build local power and to intervene when violence was inflicted on Black communities by the state and vigilantes. In the years since, we’ve committed to struggling together and to imagining and creating a world free of anti-Blackness, where every Black person has the social, economic, and political power to thrive. Black Lives Matter began as a call to action in response to state-sanctioned violence and anti-Black racism. Our intention from the very beginning was to connect Black people from all over the world who have a shared desire for justice to act together in their communities. The impetus for that commitment was, and still is, the rampant and deliberate violence inflicted on us by the state. Enraged by the death of Trayvon Martin and the subsequent acquittal of his killer, George Zimmerman, and inspired by the 31-day takeover of the Florida State Capitol by POWER U and the Dream Defenders, we took to the streets. A year later, we set out together on the Black Lives Matter Freedom Ride to Ferguson, in search of justice for Mike Brown and all of those who have been torn apart by state-sanctioned violence and anti-Black racism. Forever changed, we returned home and began building the infrastructure for the Black Lives Matter Global Network, which, even in its infancy, has become a political home for many. Ferguson helped to catalyze a movement to which we’ve all helped give life. Organizers who call this network home have ousted anti-Black politicians, won critical legislation to benefit Black lives, and changed the terms of the debate on Blackness around the world. Through movement and relationship building, we have also helped catalyze other movements and shifted culture with an eye toward the dangerous impacts of anti-Blackness. These are the results of our collective efforts. The Black Lives Matter Global Network is as powerful as it is because of our membership, our partners, our supporters, our staff, and you. Our continued commitment to liberation for all Black people means we are continuing the work of our ancestors and fighting for our collective freedom because it is our duty. Every day, we recommit to healing ourselves and each other, and to co-creating alongside comrades, allies, and family a culture where each person feels seen, heard, and supported. We acknowledge, respect, and celebrate differences and commonalities. We work vigorously for freedom and justice for Black people and, by extension, all people. We intentionally build and nurture a beloved community that is bonded together through a beautiful struggle that is restorative, not depleting. We are unapologetically Black in our positioning. In affirming that Black Lives Matter, we need not qualify our position. To love and desire freedom and justice for ourselves is a prerequisite for wanting the same for others. We see ourselves as part of the global Black family, and we are aware of the different ways we are impacted or privileged as Black people who exist in different parts of the world. We are guided by the fact that all Black lives matter, regardless of actual or perceived sexual identity, gender identity, gender expression, economic status, ability, disability, religious beliefs or disbeliefs, immigration status, or location. We make space for transgender brothers and sisters to participate and lead. We are self-reflexive and do the work required to dismantle cisgender privilege and uplift Black trans folk, especially Black trans women who continue to be disproportionately impacted by trans-antagonistic violence. We build a space that affirms Black women and is free from sexism, misogyny, and environments in which men are centered. We practice empathy. We engage comrades with the intent to learn about and connect with their contexts. We make our spaces family-friendly and enable parents to fully participate with their children. We dismantle the patriarchal practice that requires mothers to work “double shifts” so that they can mother in private even as they participate in public justice work. We disrupt the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure requirement by supporting each other as extended families and “villages” that collectively care for one another, especially our children, to the degree that mothers, parents, and children are comfortable. We foster a queer‐affirming network. When we gather, we do so with the intention of freeing ourselves from the tight grip of heteronormative thinking, or rather, the belief that all in the world are heterosexual (unless s/he or they disclose otherwise). We cultivate an intergenerational and communal network free from ageism. We believe that all people, regardless of age, show up with the capacity to lead and learn. We embody and practice justice, liberation, and peace in our engagements with one another.

When you say NO to your kids; they ditch you when they grow up. It happened to me and my ex-husband! If we were drug-dealing, mentally ill, abusive parents our son would have loved us to the end. Instead? No contact with either of us. Society has twisted us so badly that you cannot be a good parent. I wish Dennis would address this issue in his chats.

I'm kinda new here so I think there could be further reasoning as to why you use the word 'secular' to refer to what I'd consider 'left-wing thinking'. I'm not religious, nor American, but I do truly agree with pretty much all of what you said here. To me, your whole reasoning behind 'Society Can't Fix Your Problems' is very logical and practical, and for me personally, does not necessarily requires any religious beliefs to make them stand true (though I do not deny that Christian education can be very efficient in teaching that). In other words, I'd consider such advices to be within the realm of 'secular' as well. Such advices, however, does require some serious mental toughness and self-conscious to take in, and not everyone's equipped with that unfortunately. It's simply easier to blame others than to look into your own flaws, with or without any religion.

I never really thought about it before but you’re absolutely right. My only great problem ever has really only ever been myself. Until 2020 I never even considered that society needed to be changed but even now after that realization I’m not setting out to change society I’m still only set out to change myself. More so now than ever. This world hasn’t got long left in it, I’m looking to the heavens for God’s Rapture of his people. It won’t be today or tomorrow, probably not even within the next decade, there are still several signs left to happen but I’m still watching none the less because I don’t want to be here for the latter half of the Tribulation. The things happening now are just another sign of what is coming and how close it is. If you think I’m a bit nutty saying this the end has been near since 1948 when after 2600 years the Jews came back to their homeland and became Israel just as God had promised. Once America falls a single generation will not be able to pass without the memory of America dying with the nation, yet the Jews remembered for 1000x’s that. In other words it should have been impossible yet it happened just as God promised and a fake religious document could have never guessed that. You can’t change society, you can’t even change one other person, but you can change yourself. If everyone had that mentality society would change.

Dennis shouldn't be recommending online dating (unless it's highly niche specific interests). Online dating is the refuge of the scoundrel and the incel. And the incel will lose every time, even if he's soliciting an otherwise highly unappealing woman. Also, if you spend enough time on dating sites, you realize most of the most attractive women on those sites have had the same pictures and profiles there for 5-10+ years. Absurd. It's 1,000,000,000x more Alpha and useful to ask around your friendship circles, work group, and church if there are any single ladies that might be interested in you.

What is under your control is indeed your problem. However in a society, not everything is under your control. In society everything is a negotiation of one form or another. Also you miss the point of BLM. You are correct, we should be color blind. All lives matter. BLM is calling out society for NOT being colorblind, nor has the previous damage done been undone. you can't break someones legs, crippling them. Then apologize and come back in 10 years and blame then for not being able to run.

On the subject of proper diction, spelling, word usage etc, the one that is regularly misused is the word "nauseous." People often say "so and so made me nauseous". Nauseous is the effect you have on other people (similar to "obnoxious"). If you are a nauseous person, it means you are nauseating make other people ill. If you are "nauseated" it means some other person (or thing) made YOU ill. The word has been so misused that even contemporary dictionaries are citing it wrong. But I go with Strunk and White! ( )

One of my happiest moments, was, when coming out of our pharmacy, my then 4 yr. old daughter,(1975) spotted a $100.00 bill, right outside the door. She immediately picked it up, tears welled in her eyes, and said, " Mommy, somebody NEEDS THEIR MONEY!' I asked what she thought we should do, and she brightened up and said, "Mommy, It's in the doorway. Let's take it to the pharmacist!'. I said, 'Great idea!' So we went back in, & I had my daughter explain where she found it, so maybe the person who lost it was in here! At 4, she had that logic! He thanked her/us, & said he'd take care of it. He called us at home, ~1 hr. later, saying that an elderly customer had come in, hysterical, for that was her FOOD $$ for the entire month. She was soooo grateful, that an honest child had found it. I had him tell this to my daughter. She was sooo happy & learned the lesson that helping others, being honest is better than stealing that $100 from someone.

That's a really profound way of putting it, that in a free society one can't blame anyone but themself for their success or lack of success. I'd agree it's an immense burden on oneself to shoulder responsibility for yourself. Not only does it mean that you cannot be 'saved' by some deus ex machina, but also means that everything you do matters. When you choose to spend your weekend on the couch instead of working, it mattered. If it didn't matter, then that's a weight lifted off your shoulders. Why work when it's futile and my actions mean nothing?

Cheating and stealing is the American way, and it has been since it was "founded". The post by BLM didn't mention removing the father, and only said that the Nuclear family wasn't the correct way. Instead of Dennis' assumption of reducing the family, it could have meant that we should go back to the extended family. Moo.

Yes society can’t fix your problems on an individual level. But this country has a huge problem of having a duopoly of political parties that are both bought and paid for by corporations and millionaires/billionaires. These forces are then using all media outlets to keep the regular citizens on 2 sides fighting against each other so that they can’t rise up against the main problem of corruption in our country. PrayerU is part of this machine. Sponsored by the Koch brothers and others. This is gaslighting. Yes just focus on yourself and let the corporate takeover and crony capitalism continue until the wealth extraction turns our country into a banana republic.

When people make their problems "the world's" problem by affecting everyone else in society to make it known, they surrender their responsibility to find a solution to it. Then the enburdened society provides the individual with a "global" solution that isn't individualized for them. Then they complain saying "it doesn't solve my problem", and protest again. No one wins when everyone is dragged into misery and violence because some people will never be content with "solutions" to their individual problems they will never take ownership of. Sadly, most of those people were told what their greivances with society should be. We are seeing the rotten fruit of "victimhood" and "intersectionality" today. We are in a society that believes their experience through their chosen filters are reality instead of fact. The BLM "movement"? It is just a violent shadow funded machine of destruction that the democratic party and the Left turn on when they think it will move their agenda forward. Now they can't shut it off. This is how terrorism works. Predicated on a "radical" theology, devoid of logic or facts. You can't talk to them to change "their minds". To agree with you is to abandon their lie. Then they won't feel empowered anymore. Big thought. Long post. Thanks for reading.
