There is a huge number of Conservatives in CA, the North 2/3 of the state, who provide all the industry. The problem is that we are out spent and out voted by southern CA and San Francisco, not to mention the huge corruption and cheating going on in our elections. So just like Oregon and Washington where the whole state is run by one city (Portland and Seattle), we too are run by Hollywood and their leftist ideology. This is pushing lots of Conservatives out of the state. I hear other states complain that CA people move in and vote liberal. Those are the liberals who leave to spread their ideas to other states. The Conservative CA people move in quietly and continue voting conservative and you never even know they are there.

Dirty Dems keep blaming it on Global Warming and too much CO2... we have 3 trillion trees on Earth and the average tree processes 42 lbs of CO2 per year. I did the math... the trees are winning this battle. The arsonists were caught. That's arson, not climate change. Besides, how could the trees spontaneously combust from global warming? The temperate for wood to spontaaneously combust is over 1000 degrees Fahrenheit (over 600C). Have you even been walking in the forest and it was over 1,000 degrees? Biden is a liar when he said this is from Global Warming... it's not. It's arson, and he knows it, but people are dumb enough to believe that trees are magically catching on fire from global warming. PragerU is essentially just a republican channel that gets people who SOUND smart when they talk and seem smart on the surface, but really just don’t know what they’re talking about and brainwash the people watching their channel who don’t actually look into and fact check what they’re saying. First off, the video title is completely misleading. It straight up attacks the entire left and says it’s the leftist stupid policies that cause wildfires, but it hardly even addresses this in the video. The video roasted power lines and California, not the left side. The one time it actually brought up policy, it was about logging and controlled burns. Let’s go through this 1 at a time. The idea that logging controls forest fires has been disproven by scientists and logging industries spend millions trying to keep that a secret. 1) logging removes the thick trunks and leaves behind the small branches. The small branches are what mainly fuel forest fires, not the big trunks. Notice how after a fire, many trunks still stand, not completely burned, while all the smaller derbies is destroyed. Logging literally adds fuel to the fire. 2) when you remove trees, the coverage and shade those trees provided is now gone. In other words, it was protected from the sun. After logging, the areas are exposed to sun and dry up faster, which is better for fires. 3) trees act as a wind barrier to forests. Wind is what spreads fires. If there are less trees, that means less wind protection, which means more fires spreading. 4) fallen trees should not be removed. Not only do they act as food and habitats for microorganisms, but they retain moisture. Look under a fallen log and you’ll see how much wetter the soil is compared to the surrounding area. They are literally wet fire walls in the forest. Ok, so now that the logging stuff is debunked, let’s move on the controlled burns. It is true that some types of burns are good for forests 1) the video does not address the different kinds of burns that occur, and just labels them as all good. Good burns are only managed by experts done in small scale. When a forest fire is coming towards you town, for example, a line of burning ahead of the fire and then put out can stop that other fire from continuing. This is also very risky. Other controlled burns may be done small scale in areas that haven’t seen one recently. This is debatable in its effectiveness and so I won’t say anything definitively besides do some research. Burning for pasture land of clearing entire forests is not something we should be encouraging and it is very important to make the distinction. Please people, don’t trust what anyone says. Including me. You need to do your own research and look at many different sources. If you look into scientific and peer reviewed studies done by experts, you will see that what I have just explained is the truth, not this video and entitle MNpost channel that has an agenda and tries to discredit the left at any cost.

This is probably before most peoples time but way back 40+ years ago there was the "spotted Owl' environmentalist thing. I lived in N. CA at the time in the coastal range region. Every town in N. CA along hwy 101 and in the inland areas had a logging industry/lumber mill. They did 'select tree' logging, not clear cut logging. In other words they kept the forest healthy by removing older trees/thinning and letting the younger ones prosper through photosynthesis. Everyone should know what happens to younger plant/trees when they get cut out from receiving sunlight by being shaded by the bigger trees. They die and then you just have a lot of dead trees and underbrush that is fuel for fires. So there you have it in simplified form. BTW, the environmentalist killed off an entire industry, put thousands of people out of work in small towns that had no other industry and only survived off of the logging industry. Louisiana Pacific moved their lumber processing operation down near Ensenada Mexico (Baja Mex) and got their timber from OR and loaded it on ships at Coos Bay OR and unloaded it at Ensenada and I assume shipped it overseas. As a side note, after the fires N. CA of 2018 people were complaining that because of the timber tariffs on lumber that HAD to be imported form Canada it cost more to rebuild their homes.
It’s not just environmental regulations, they are part of it yes. But drought and hot temperatures have contributed to it as well.

Why does California burn so drastically? It was not always so. Yes, we had fires, but not like these of the last twenty years. So, why does California burn like never before? Amnesty. How did Cali go from being a stalwart conservative state in the 1980s to a liberal state by the 2000s to the leftist socialist state it is today? Amnesty. By the 1980s California had millions of hispanic illegal aliens. Democrats knew full well hispanics favored democrats by over 80% and welcomed illegals into the state with government handouts and other legal privileges. Having so many illegal aliens within the state the federal amnesty bill of 1986 affected Cali like no other state and further encouraged liberals to continue recruiting illegal aliens as constituents, which further encouraged leftism and other frauds. Over the years this state embraced such measures as motor voter, drivers licenses for illegals, sanctuary cities, early voting, same day registration and vote harvesting - all made legal in Cali, but all intentionally designed by liberals and leftists to allow for institutionalized vote fraud, while at the same time discouraging boarder control, illegal immigration control, voter ID and strict vote reform. Forget one CITIZEN, one vote. In Cali democrats were going for the non-citizen vote. California democrats made a constituency of illegal aliens, not for the betterment and security of the state and it’s citizens, but for the sole purpose of obtaining power for their political apparatchik and for their own personal political ambitions. Amnesty created in Cali this sudden and dramatic increase in liberal support which quickly evolved into the unethical leftism that today has nearly eradicated conservative common sense within this state. As a result of the federal amnesty of 1986 California quickly converted from a conservative state to liberal, then leftist, in only twenty years. And as for the California wild fires, these, too, are the result of leftism - environmental policies holding the values of dead trees, wind mills and solar power above the values of private citizens, private property and sound energy and environmental management. This California brand of leftism was made possible by amnesty and today the DNC again wholly supports unchecked illegal immigration and further amnesty with designs of adopting the California model for its national socialist campaign. This is why the DNC wants illegal immigration and may be the reason why California senator, Kamala Harris, is the vice presidential candidate. Well, actually, she’s the presidential candidate. It’s the California franchise of socialism the DNC is embracing. Yes, the DNC is trying to bring it’s socialist California model to the entire nation. If you like what you see in California - high taxes, loss of property rights, riots, fires, power outages, homelessness, human feces on the streets, illegal immigration, sanctuary cities, institutionalizes vote fraud and out-of-control forrest fires... this is what the DNC is offering nationally.

Hi, I'm left leaning and I came across this video while looking up youtube stuff on causes of the CA wildfires. I watched it and it is extremely well-made. However, I do have a couple of questions/problems? 1. So the logic is Leo says climate change causes wildfires --> video says this is true, but not in the way we think --> video concludes that because jerry brown was ambitious in pursuing renewables, pg&e's attention and resources was pressured to invest in solar & wind. The logic was a bit hard to follow, but I guess it's saying that too much emphasis on climate change made pg&e neglect power line maintenance, causing wildfires? Even so, the video isn't denying climate change and its role in wildfires, right? Just that environmental regulations have more to do with it? 2. Video says though that Jerry Brown vetoed a bill that would have better managed old power lines, implying he is responsible. I looked this one up and it seems like there was already a plan in place to do that (CPUC was doing something already) and brown vetoed it because it was duplicative? I'll research some more. 3. 2018 CA wildfires --> 50% caused by electrical lines? I couldn't find this anywhere. I found 10%, but I wasn't sure it was just 2018. Any help? 4. When comparing the expenditures of PG&E for renewables and traditional, why are two different years of 2018 and 2017 used? Seems weird. 5. Of PG&E, the video states that it is a public utility, that "politicians ..calls the shots." Not sure, but isn't this a bit overstated? Even as a public utility, I thought it was still a private company -- even as shortly as 2020, I recall that they were talking about PG&E going "private." This maybe just semantics and me being picky, but I'm just putting it out there. 6. Not in video but I read there is state-federal relationship to manage 500,000 acres in California to reduce risk. www.politico.com/states/california/story/2020/08/21/im-not-convinced-the-president-was-aware-newsom-counters-trump-on-wildfire-work-1311324 . 7. Also interesting and not in video -- the federal government manages 57% of CA forests. www.politico.com/states/california/story/2020/08/21/im-not-convinced-the-president-was-aware-newsom-counters-trump-on-wildfire-work-1311324 8. So I think there is blame to go around here, not sure in what percentage (because I haven't studied up on it enough). Democrats are in power in CA, PG&E seems likely to be at least somewhat negligent and forest management is not only state, but also federal. 9. the video's title says "Causing" and I think that this is misleading, especially if the video doesn't eliminate the role of climate change in CA forest fires. By cause, there's at least two components. One is the immediate trigger of the fire (the spark that created it) and the other is the magnitude and extent of the fires. So…sure, power lines and other human/infrastructure problems may spark wildfires but the magnitude of the wildfire also rests with climate change (if you don’t deny it). I am not entirely familiar with logging and clearing and intentional burn, so I can’t assign percentage. (In fact nobody can) But I do think that this PragerU video’s title and content is misleading (intentionally or not) So, it was definitely interesting writing this. Let me know what you think!

Before man would discover controlled burning, nature had a system in place. Lightning would start fires, they would burn out the underbrush and the larger trees would survive. New life would establish itself in the forest and the cycle would continue. Then man comes along and starts putting out all the fires that would have cleared out all the excess fuels. Now the fuel load is many times its normal amount and when fires do start they burn hotter, move faster and burn up the big trees as well. Now we have erosion, lost of big trees and more junk in the atmosphere and those same voters that vote for environmental candidates screaming about how we are destroying the environment. But what drives these environmentalists? Is it care for the earth? To a degree sure. But the fanaticism that they employ is reminiscent of a brainwashed cult. When they see a logging company cutting a tree, they don't see destruction of the planet, they see someone having the audacity to make a dollar, and that they can't stand. Good work California. You are experiencing exactly what you deserve for voting for the clowns that make this happen. Wake up.

PragerU has found a way to blame corporate negligence on centrist politicians. PG&E is an investor owned utility, it is completely privately owned, but is regulated by the California Public Utilities Commission. Politicians do not, "call the shots," the utility is given regulation and broad direction by non-partisan members of the civil service, and the privately operated company chooses what to do from there. Apparently when capitalism goes wrong it is Democrats' fault. Also, controlled burns have increased over the last 20 years. Saying that they have decreased is also just a flat-out lie. PragerU is blatantly lying to you all. First, PG&E is a private company. Here is their stock symbol NYSE: PCG. They ARE NOT a government entity by any definition. To find out the truth of what happened in the Paradise fires watch the documentary on Netflix “Fire in Paradise”. PG&E made a business decision not to update their infrastructure despite fines from the government and calls to update their infrastructure to prevent wildfires. Despite these calls and fines from the government, PG&E decided to wait until the infrastructure failed before they would decide to do the necessary upkeep. Due to PG&E infrastructure being so old it was company policy to shutdown certain towers to prevent overload of the system which thus cause fires. On the day the Paradise fires started PG&E decided not to shut off the power to prevent a fire and the tower actually caught on fire. PragerU is just doing corporate propaganda and outright lies. Stop letting these corporate oligarchs and globalists continue to trot these 1984 Ministry of Truth type organizations lie to you and put your life in danger just so they can line their pockets. This propaganda is intended to destroy the very government that tried to hold PG&E accountable to update their infrastructure before a disaster like the Paradise fires occurred. Money, not your well-being is their motivation. They will lie steal and cheat in order to squeeze every last drip of profit even if it means they are putting thousands of people in danger. Please do your own research and seek truth. PragerU is lying to you because they accept bribes from their corporate masters.

We had several controlled burns in the past few months and the power company has been removing trees that threaten power lines for a few years now. The largest fires in 2020 were caused by lightning and most fires are caused by humans. At present there's a large fire that was started by someone who lit a colored smoke bomb off at a park as part of a gender reveal party. They lit it in an area surrounded by dry grass, in 110+ degree weather less than a mile away from a large fire that burned 30k acres only 2 weeks before. Yes, environmental factors and politics contribute to fires in California but the majority of the problem comes down to the ignorance, stupidity and depravity of human beings. No political party, amount of rain during winter or logging operations will ever fix it.

So what’s your solution? Is it to rail on Californians for being progressives, to try to renew the logging industry, or is it to try to justify some pro-industry, anti-environment stance? Whatever it is, you try to use loaded words and statements to manipulate your audience and polarize their perspectives. This does no good. If you want some profound revelation here’s one: it’s a lot harder to heat the world up than cool it down. It takes millions of people and animals consistently pumping carbon dioxide and methane into the atmosphere to warm the planet just a few degrees. All you need to cool it down 10 degrees is a few thousand nuclear bomb detonations or a volcanic eruption which would cause ash to block sunlight. But is the risk of jeopardizing human civilization really worth your spite for another political faction who is more similar to you than you think.

@Jane Moore the implication that california has an issue with power outages is false. We have so much renewable energy here that we're literally paying other states to take some of the excess power we have. And don't pretend that the wildfire issues come from democrat leadership. Like more than 90% of the reason our state is always on fire is because of the effects of climate change, something that this entire channel gets its funding from, literally a fracking company. Pointing the finger at Leonardo D is not proof of california going to hell.

Well as I live in northern California and most of the people who live around me are old loggers .. we have been saying for years that we need to clean the forest.... but then the hippies showed up telling us how we should live. And yes.. pg&e has been taking money in for 100 years while not maintaining their equipment

I agree that California needs to do more prescribed burns especially in forests. But I live in rural Northern California where I’m surrounded by grasslands, woodlands, and chaparral (very dense brush). My property has seen 2 horrific wildfires in 5 years. The most recent was 2 weeks ago with the LNU lightening complex, which destroyed most of my neighbors’ homes. I don’t live anywhere near a forest. California is having such horrible fires now for a multitude of complicated reasons. First and foremost, the native landscape of California has changed dramatically since the arrival of the Spanish hundreds of years ago. They brought their livestock and foreign grasses which are annual plants (meaning they die off in the summer due to the lack of rain we get here) to feed the livestock and now only about 1% of the grasslands in California are native. These invasive grasses are highly flammable which is how most fires start here. Second, there’s are just so many people who live here. More people=more fires. Also, there are a lot more people living in rural areas as well, which leads to more property loss. Thirdly, California is definitely getting drier and hotter. Our summers are lasting longer, and sometimes we won’t get our first substantial rain until November. Also, this August was the hottest August on record. We had a 12 day heat wave of 102+ and we are heading right back into another heat wave this weekend with highs around 110. With these last two fires I’ve watched these 200+ year old oak trees burn because they’re stressed from heat and their native grasses and understory plants have disappeared from their ecology. These are just a few reasons and I could go on. While yes, I agree that we don’t do enough prescribed burns, and that our electrical companies aren’t doing their part, it’s a far far more complicated subject than many would like to think.

When we can't blame the nature for its cause we blame the authority in its rational state whether left or right. If you want to protect, fight and hand freedom, vote Joe Biden!
