Should Latinos see America as a land of systemic racism, xenophobia, and immigrant children in cages? Emma Jimenez, an independent journalist who immigrated from Peru, debunks some common myths. She also shares why becoming an American citizen was the most rewarding experience of her life.

I don't understand why the heck progressives are so weird. I mean I'm just sitting here in my office, when around 6 white people ask me, hey wait you are voting for trump? I just say yes, and get bombarded with the Trump is gonna deport you and yada yada yada. I mean seriously, this is what happens when people live in paradise too long.

Felicidades a tu familia y a ti, Emma. Once again, my congratulations to your family and you. Embracing and loving the country that gives you opportunities is nothing to be ashamed of My respects from a paisana👏🙏👍

Thanks for calling yourself American. It's so silly even when I here hear..... African American, Latino American, and so on. It's decisive and inaccurate. We are just American. We have had a few friends we watched finally become citizens. You truly don't understand until you witness someone finally get their citizenship. Every one of them did it the way they were supposed to when if they came here illegally at first. These people are like we all used to be. Full of pride and understanding of what being an American means. There are a few right now I hope get their citizenship. Some of these people love America more than legal citizens do. They work hard, do everything they need to with pride, don't break the law, and are just good people. There is a is a bit drawn out but there is a reason for it. The fact some people stick to it proves how much they need to be here.

This is a great video, thanks PragerU. The proudest American I've ever met was my Dad, an immigrant from Juetamo, Michoacán, MX...he came to the USA at 17 years old by foot, to make a better life and pursue the American dream. Meeting my mom who was a Tejano from Del Rio, while she was American, culturally both my parents were true Mexican. My father embraced his new country, hardworking at his job, he with others started their labor union in Los Angeles in the 1950's. They had 6 kids and I was the 5th, they bought a home, and us kids were expected to excel in school, we were not allowed to speak Spanish in the home, but we learned the language anyway as they spoke to each other. My parents expected us to go to college and make a better life and achieve more of the American Dream than they ever did. When I was 7 or 8 years old I remember my dad practicing for his citizenship test as I helped him recite the Pledge of Allegiance. His proudest day was when he could vote for the first time I remember his smile ear to ear as he recited the words of JFK to me. Though both my parents are in Heaven now, their morals and our culture are instilled in my soul. My father use to always say I could become a teacher, nurse or real estate it turned out I went to college under an art scholarship and earned a BFA first career was as a Realtor; several years later, I went back to college to obtain a MFA, and now am a college professor teaching art. Irony, my Dad knew what type of career I may pursue...NEVER have I felt any systematic racism in any of my life's pursuits. NEVER have I felt judged based on how much melatonin I have in my skin. I know I am judged by my achievements and how I treat others, I feel truly blessed. This democratic party is not my Dad's party, he would be disgusted by how it has all been twisted. If we stand up for Trump, who is not a racists, or a politician, we get cancelled cultured; if we speak out against any propaganda they are spewing, we get blocked. We will lose our liberty if we do not unite and rebel against this take-over agenda, this has truly become an election of liberty loving, freedom embracing Americans that cares about saving our Republic, versus anarchist who want everyone to live under tyranny.

When my grandmother and her kids came to USA in 1960 she took it as a source of pride when she got her citizenship in the 80s she came and vowed not to be a burden on the country and she never was. She made sure her kids also had the best she could give and they are now super successful. People like to play the victim card and cant see the opportunitys and think something is owed, no it's not.

The left behaves very much like an abusive spouse, convincing people that everyone else hates them and ONLY THEY would ever love them, so you have to "confess" your inferiority and only depend on them to help you. They create dependence in order to keep their power.

I'm a Latino immigrant who also LOVES and became an American citizen. Like you my parent's NEVER taught me i was a victim and that the USA hated me. Instead they taught me that THIS COUNTRY is the ONLY country in the would where immigrants can come and succeed. And THEY WHERE RIGHT! I LOVE AMERICA and hate the Liberals/Democrats for their relentless never ending hate and attack on America. God bless America.

I'm a Hispanic also. This country has been a blessing to me. I grew up in Spanish Harlem NYC. The only obstacles I faced was the ones I created and the Democratic policies I lived under. By the grace of God and the Reagan Bush economy I was able to get a good job and work myself out of the ghetto. The program to prosperity is Jesus Christ and a job. Handouts keep you under the control of the one given the handout. Having a job gives you the freedom control your own destiny. The capitalist system does not discriminate but the socialist Marxist system does. God bless America.

I second that notion. I'm a Cuban American. Came here when I was 6 years old. The only people that thing America is oppressive are ones that have never grown up in other countries, especially 3rd world or communist countries. They know not what they speak. Only repeat what they've been indoctrinated to do.

My parents immigrated legally in 1970’s. It’s is so true that you can celebrate the family culture and history while 💯 embracing US culture. My parents put MORE emphasis on National holidays and taught us the meaning and why they are so important. On a daily basis most of our life was reflected by their home country. (Food, church, work ethic, emphasis on education) I KNOW all of those are American values too. Anyone that doesn’t understand this lives in a tiny bubble, has not experienced other cultures, and does not know how privileged they are to be here in the US.

I hate how all Hispanics are grouped together. Outside of the United States this latino sense of identity doesn't exist, everyone identifies with their nationality or race of origin. To be fair, most people of a spanish speaking background are Mexican, so it makes why non-hispanics can't distinguish.

Listen to this woman’s heart-warming story, then think about the people out rioting and consider this.... Those born in other countries, like this lady, who immigrated here because of true oppression, are happy to be here, love our country, and are proud to be Americans. On the other hand, those who are born in America, who have never really experienced oppression, want to BELIEVE they are oppressed, hate America so much and are so miserable here that they want to destroy our country. It makes zero sense.
